Kandla Moves Closer to Becoming a Green Hydrogen Hub
Mar 07, 2025
In a major step toward India's green hydrogen ambitions, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) has successfully tested 1 MW electrolyzer stacks, which are now ready for installation at Kandla. This milestone strengthens DPA’s vision of becoming a leading Green Hydrogen Hub in the country.
An electrolyzer stack is the core component of hydrogen production, utilizing renewable electricity to split water molecules into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2). Once operational, this project will contribute to India's clean energy transition by enabling the production of sustainable hydrogen fuel.
Key Benefits
- Reduced Carbon Emissions – Helps in cutting down fossil fuel dependence.
- Sustainable Industrial & Transport Fuel – Supports shipping, railways, and heavy industries.
- Energy Security – Strengthens India's transition to a green economy.
With this development, Kandla is set to emerge as a key player in India’s green hydrogen roadmap, supporting both domestic and international energy goals.
