KP Energy Orders Wind Turbines for Hybrid Project in Gujarat
May 02, 2025
Gujarat-based KP Energy Ltd. has placed an order for 20 units of Senvion India's advanced 4.2M160 wind turbines, designed for deployment in a hybrid power project in Bharuch district, Gujarat. The turbines, part of Senvion’s next-generation 4XM platform, will be delivered by the fourth quarter of FY 2025-26. These turbines are specifically optimized for low wind conditions, with a 160-meter rotor and hub heights reaching up to 140 meters, making them well-suited for India's wind energy landscape.
The contract includes the supply of turbines, installation supervision, and a comprehensive operations and maintenance agreement to ensure the turbines' long-term performance. Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Managing Director of KP Energy, emphasized the importance of partnering with companies that share a commitment to excellence in performance and execution. Amit Kansal, CEO and MD of Senvion India, expressed pride in continuing the partnership with KP Energy, highlighting the growing industry trend toward high-performance turbines tailored to Indian conditions.
Developed jointly by Senvion’s Indian and German R&D teams, the 4.2M160 model boasts over 85% localization under the Make in India initiative. The turbine is also designed to comply with Indian grid codes, offering both enhanced performance and serviceability. This project marks a significant step for KP Energy in expanding India's renewable energy capacity with cutting-edge wind technology.
