MIEPL Wins CEL Tender for 200 MW Solar Module Facility in Ghaziabad

May 22, 2025

Multi Infrastructure and Engineering Pvt Ltd (MIEPL) has secured a contract from Central Electronics Limited (CEL) to establish a 200 MW solar module manufacturing facility in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The tender, floated in April 2025, requires MIEPL to develop the project under a revenue-sharing model aligned with the Make in India initiative. This facility is expected to enhance domestic solar module production, lower import dependence, and support India's clean energy ambitions.

MIEPL, known for its EPC work in sectors such as rail electrification, pipelines, and civil infrastructure, has executed projects across 11 Indian states. Earlier in April, the company also won a Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) auction to build a 4.125 MW solar project at IIT Kharagpur.

CEL had previously invited expressions of interest to operate an existing 40 MW automated solar module plant in Uttar Pradesh. The scope included manufacturing, maintenance, marketing, and solar module sales, with a storage facility of 12 MW.

India's solar manufacturing sector saw significant growth in 2024, with the addition of 25.3 GW of module and 11.6 GW of cell capacity. This surge was driven by strong project demand and the reinstatement of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) order. Gujarat emerged as the leading state for solar manufacturing, hosting 42% of module and 37% of solar cell production capacities.
