MNRE Adds 8.6 GW to ALMM, India’s Total Solar Module Capacity Nears 88 GW
May 27, 2025
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) by adding 8,653 MW of solar module manufacturing capacity, pushing the cumulative total to 87,973 MW. With this update, the number of ALMM-listed module manufacturers has increased to 104. Key new entrants include Premier Energies (1,085 MW), Indosol Solar (472 MW), and Luno Solar (79 MW), among others.
Several existing manufacturers also scaled up their capacities significantly. Notable increases came from Goldi Solar (3,114 MW), RenewSys India (1,197 MW), and Solex Energy (767 MW). Additionally, Agrawal Renewable Energy (125 MW) and Unique Power (160 MW), which were previously delisted, have been re-included.
The update follows April's addition of 5,085 MW, highlighting rapid growth driven by increased demand and the reimposition of the ALMM order in April 2024.
MNRE also announced a reduction in the minimum efficiency requirement for crystalline silicon modules used in off-grid applications from 19% to 18%, while maintaining current standards for cadmium telluride thin-film modules. Further, the Ministry clarified that PID and non-PID solar cells will be treated as separate product families under ALMM.
India’s 2025 report, India added 25.3 GW of solar module and 11.6 GW of solar cell capacity in 2024, underscoring the robust momentum in domestic manufacturing.
