MNRE-NSEFI Conference Unveils New Initiatives to Boost Renewable Energy Skilling

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), in collaboration with the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), hosted the National Conference on ‘Skill Development for Renewable Energy Workforce’ on June 20, 2025. Chaired by MNRE Secretary Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, the event focused on advancing skill development aligned with India's clean energy transition goals.
In his keynote, Shri Sarangi emphasized India’s vision for clean technology and energy, calling for robust manpower training, a credible carbon credit framework, and enhanced startup participation. Dr. Arun K Tripathi of MNRE outlined action points including ecosystem strengthening, quality training, and fostering entrepreneurship.
NSEFI CEO Shri Subrahmanyam Pulipaka highlighted the importance of industry-driven skill development. Key announcements included the launch of the City Accelerator Program by MNRE and SSEF, the Startup Challenge in partnership with DPIIT and NISE, and a new rooftop solar plan for 100 cities—30 of which will be covered in Phase I.
Senior MNRE officials Shri J.V.N. Subrahmanyam and Shri Sudeep Jain emphasized high-quality training delivery and scaling up skilled trainers. MSDE Additional Secretary Smt. Sonal Mishra underscored the need for more awarding bodies and fostering women-led green entrepreneurship.
