MNRE Updates ALMM List, Adds 9.3 GW and Crosses 109 GW Milestone

Sept 20, 2025

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar modules, adding 9,326 MW of new capacity. This brings the total ALMM-listed capacity to 109,545 MW, marking another milestone after India crossed the 100 GW solar module manufacturing capacity threshold in August 2025, up from just 2.3 GW in 2014.

The update highlights both new entrants and expansions. Emmvee Energy, a subsidiary of the Emmvee group, entered the list with 2,229 MW of TOPCon module capacity. Avaada Electro added 2,893 MW, scaling up to 4,165 MW. FS Green Energies grew from 644 MW to 2,896 MW, while Cosmic PV Power expanded by 1,117 MW and Kosol Energie by 889 MW. However, Loom Solar’s capacity dropped from 43 MW to 30 MW, showing that not all companies are scaling upward.

The ALMM now includes a variety of technologies, such as Mono PERC, Bifacial PERC, and N-Type TOPCon, with module wattages ranging from 255 Wp for smaller modules to 710 Wp for advanced bifacial designs.

Looking ahead, MNRE has proposed stricter requirements: from June 2028, all ALMM-approved modules must use India-made wafers, while List-II for solar cells will become mandatory from June 2026.

This update strengthens India’s push for self-reliance in solar manufacturing and aligns with its 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.
