MoU Signed for 3650 MW Pumped Storage Projects in Maharashtra to Boost Clean Energy

May 01, 2025

A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Government of Maharashtra to develop 3650 MW of Pumped Storage Projects, aimed at significantly enhancing the state’s renewable energy infrastructure. The agreement, signed in the esteemed presence of Honourable Deputy Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, marks a major step forward in the state’s commitment to sustainable and resilient energy solutions.

With a projected investment of Rs15,100 crore, the initiative is expected to generate 3800 employment opportunities, reinforcing both economic and environmental progress. Pumped storage systems play a vital role in ensuring round-the-clock green power availability by balancing renewable energy supply and demand, especially for energy-intensive sectors and residential needs.

These projects are designed to strengthen Maharashtra’s clean energy backbone, provide reliable grid support, and contribute to long-term energy security. Beyond energy, this effort is set to uplift communities, spur local development, and align with India’s national energy transition goals.

The partnership underscores a shared vision between public and private sectors to advance Maharashtra’s leadership in clean energy and reflects a strong commitment to building a greener, more inclusive future.
