NHPC’s Subansiri Lower Hydro Project Reviewed by Ministry of Power Official

Shri Mohammad Afzal, Joint Secretary (Hydro) from the Ministry of Power, recently visited NHPC’s 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project between 12th and 13th September 2025. During the visit, he inspected the Dam site and Power House complex, reviewing several critical areas of work. These included the protection and stabilization works at the Diversion Tunnel Inlet, as well as electro-mechanical components such as the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) system and the Power House Control Room.

Shri Afzal praised the dedication of the project team, led by Shri Rajendra Prasad, Executive Director & Head of Project. He acknowledged their progress and motivated them to continue working with the same commitment to ensure the project’s timely completion and commissioning.

The Subansiri Lower HE Project is one of India’s largest hydroelectric initiatives and is crucial for enhancing the country’s clean energy capacity. Its successful completion will significantly contribute to sustainable power generation and strengthen India’s renewable energy portfolio.
