NLC India Renewables Signs PPA for 810 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan
May 07, 2025
NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL), the renewable energy arm and wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Ltd (NLCIL), has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) for its upcoming 810 MW solar power project. The project, located at the Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner district, is being developed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) Scheme – Mode 8.
Awarded through a competitive tariff-based bidding process conducted by RVUNL, the project is a major stride in NLCIL’s ambition to become a key player in India’s renewable energy sector. The Pugal site, situated on barren land, offers high solar irradiation, making it ideal for large-scale solar power generation.
This project not only reinforces NLCIL’s commitment to clean energy expansion but also aligns with India’s broader targets to scale renewable capacity and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. With this development, NLCIL continues its momentum in diversifying its energy portfolio while contributing to sustainable growth and energy security in the region.
