NPTI and AIDA Partner to Boost Training and Technology in Power Distribution

Sept 02, 2025

The National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has signed an MoU with the All India Discom Association (AIDA) to enhance technological advancement, skill development, and inclusive growth in India’s power distribution sector. The partnership aims to identify training needs of DISCOM employees and deliver specialized capacity-building programmes in areas such as smart metering, SCADA, data analytics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, blockchain, IT/OT, network planning, and energy accounting.

The agreement was signed between Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI, and Alok Kumar (Retd. IAS), Director General of AIDA and former Energy Secretary. Both organizations emphasized that the initiative will promote knowledge sharing through seminars, workshops, and research studies, enabling DISCOMs to adopt modern technologies and improve efficiency.

A unique focus of the collaboration will be on technical training for women, encouraging greater participation and leadership roles for women in the power distribution sector. By strengthening workforce capacity and fostering innovation, the partnership is expected to support India’s ongoing power sector transformation, ensuring reliable, secure, and future-ready distribution networks.
