NTPC Commissions Solar and Wind Projects, Boosts Capacity Beyond 83 GW
Sept 27, 2025
NTPC has commissioned 167 MW of solar capacity at its 245 MW Nokh Solar Project in Rajasthan, 25 MW of solar at Bhuj, Gujarat, and 9.9 MW of wind capacity at its 92.4 MW wind project in Bhuj. The wind facility was developed by NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC.
These additions raise NTPC’s standalone installed and commercial capacity to 60,705 MW and its group capacity to 83,888 MW. NGEL’s total installed capacity has now reached 7,407 MW. The solar and wind projects are owned by Ayana Renewable Power Four, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power, which is itself owned by ONGC NTPC Green.
Recently, NGEL also commissioned 100 MW of renewable capacity from IRCON Renewable Power’s 500 MW project at Karnataka’s Pavagada Solar Park. Separately, NGEL awarded VSL Renewable Services an O&M contract for 810 MW of its solar projects spread across Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
On a broader industry scale, India added 18 GW of solar projects in H1 2025, marking a 31% year-over-year increase. In Q2 2025 alone, 11.3 GW of solar capacity was added, up 145% YoY, accounting for 64% of new power additions. Wind additions also surged, with 1.6 GW installed in Q2 2025, a 113% YoY increase.
These developments highlight NTPC’s expanding renewable portfolio and India’s accelerating solar and wind growth momentum.
