NTPC Green Energy Commissions 49.1 MW at Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat
Aug 25, 2025
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the green energy arm of NTPC, has successfully commissioned 49.125 MW as part of its 300 MW Khavda solar energy project in Bhuj, Gujarat. This milestone further strengthens NTPC’s efforts to expand renewable energy capacity across the country.
The Khavda project has been progressing in phases. Earlier in June 2025, the company had already commissioned two sections of the project — one with 142.2 MW capacity and another with 32.8 MW. With the latest addition, NGEL continues to advance toward completing the full 300 MW project, which will significantly contribute to India’s solar energy output.
Apart from this project, NGEL has been actively expanding its renewable energy portfolio in Gujarat. Earlier this month, the company also commissioned a hybrid project combining solar and wind power, reflecting its diversified approach to clean energy.
In February 2025, NGEL further boosted its green growth strategy by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Light and Power Pvt. Ltd., aiming to accelerate renewable initiatives and align with India’s carbon-neutral targets.
These steps reaffirm NTPC’s position as a leading utility-scale renewable energy developer in India.
