NTPC Green Energy Wins 1,000 MW Solar Project in UPPCL Auction at Rs2.56/kWh

NTPC Green Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, has secured a 1,000 MW solar project in the latest auction conducted by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The company signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) on June 4 at a competitive tariff of Rs2.56 per kWh, marking a significant boost to its renewable energy portfolio.

This win reinforces NTPC's commitment to expanding its green energy footprint, aligning with the company’s broader strategy to diversify into sustainable energy solutions. In parallel, NTPC Green Energy has also partnered with Honeywell Automation India to explore the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in India. The companies aim to utilize Honeywell’s eFining technology to convert captured CO₂ from NTPC power plants into SAF, further promoting low-carbon alternatives in the transportation sector.

These developments underscore NTPC’s aggressive push towards cleaner energy sources and innovation in green fuels, including solar, green hydrogen, and SAF, as part of its long-term decarbonization goals.
