NTPC Invites Bids for O&M of 56.3 MW Kawas Solar Project in Gujarat
May 26, 2025
NTPC has floated a tender for the comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of its 56.3 MW solar power project at Kawas in Surat, Gujarat, for a period of two years. The Kawas solar installation comprises a 31.25 MW ground-mounted system, a 25 MW floating solar array on an 84-acre reservoir, and a 52.5 kW rooftop system atop NTPC’s Kawas gas power plant administrative building.
Bids must be submitted by June 6, 2025, with the same-day opening. The project’s estimated cost is Rs11.011 crore earnest money deposit is required. The scope includes preventive and breakdown maintenance, component overhauls, SCADA-based monitoring, 24/7 staffing of the control room, and routine washing of modules with specific load conditions. The O&M services must ensure a 99.5% inverter availability and uphold NTPC’s 10-year OEM warranty for critical systems like modules and SCADA.
A 5% holdback from monthly bills for safety compliance will be released quarterly. Penalties include liquidated damages of 20% of missed activities not completed within 30 days and a cap of 10% annual deduction on total O&M cost. Eligible bidders must have installed or operated at least a 10 MW solar project in the past seven years and show a minimum financial turnover of Rs4.67 crore over the last three years.
This follows NTPC Green Energy’s recent call for expressions of interest to acquire operational solar projects with a minimum of 50 MW cumulative capacity from developers with power purchase agreements.
