NTPC-REL Issues Tender for Balance of System for 1.4 GW Solar projects in Solar Parks in Uttar Pradesh

Dec 24, 2024

NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC-REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, has issued a tender for the development of a 1,400 MW grid-connected solar project across two major solar parks in Uttar Pradesh (UP). The project will cover the Lalitpur (2×300 MW) and Chitrakoot (2×400 MW) solar parks, both developed by TUSCO.
The tender invites bids until January 13, 2025.

Project Scope and Specifications

The tender is focused on providing the Balance of System (BoS) package, which involves the design and construction of various components for these solar parks.
The selected bidder will be responsible for the overall design, construction, and commissioning of the solar plants, excluding the solar PV modules, which will be supplied by NTPC-REL as a free-issue item.

Key elements of the scope include:

  • Design and installation of a robotic dry cleaning module cleaning system, including all required accessories.
  • Design and construction of foundations and erection of fixed-tilt module mounting structures (MMS) for SPV panels with a DC:AC ratio of 1.45.
  • Installation and fixing of PV modules and interconnection of the systems.
  • Electrical and civil works for interfacing with the grid, such as transformers, panels, protection systems, cables, and metering at the 33kV level.
  • Grid compliance study as per relevant regulations.
  • SCADA and PPC panels installation in the main control room.

Additional Requirements

The bidder will also need to install dynamic reactive power compensation equipment (20%) and all other necessary equipment for power quality control.
This includes harmonic filters and flicker compensators to meet grid connectivity regulations. To ensure regulatory compliance, the tender mandates adherence to the “Report of the Working Group on Data Submission and Compliance Verification” by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), specifically focusing on technical standards for grid connectivity for renewable energy generators.
The grid compliance study will be conducted by the project owner, based on the inputs from the selected bidder.
