Onix Renewable Wins SECI Bid to Supply 50,000 MT Green Ammonia at Rs52.50/kg

Aug 13, 2025

Onix Renewable has secured Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) tender to supply 50,000 metric tons of green ammonia annually for 10 years under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program, Mode-2A-Tranche-I. The company won the auction with a tariff of Rs52.50/kg, slightly lower than the previous winning bid of Rs53.05/kg by the SCC Infrastructure–InSolare Energy consortium.

The green ammonia will be delivered to Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals in Bharuch, Gujarat. Onix is required to set up production facilities, obtain all necessary permits, secure land, and manage production, storage, and logistics to the delivery point. Trading is prohibited, but up to 10% of the annual committed supply may be sourced from third parties.

Renewable energy for production can be sourced from co-located or remotely located projects, owned either by Onix or a third party, or procured via power exchanges.

The project is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, approved by the Union Cabinet with an outlay of Rs197.44 billion, including Rs174.9 billion allocated for the SIGHT program. The mission aims to create demand, boost production, enable utilization, and promote exports of green hydrogen and its derivatives like green ammonia.
