Oriana Power Wins SECI’s Third Green Ammonia Auction, Boosting India’s Green Hydrogen Push
Aug 08, 2025
Oriana Power has secured a major win in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) third Green Ammonia auction, agreeing to supply 60,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green ammonia at Rs52.25/kg to Madhya Bharat Agro Products’ plant in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
This is part of SECI’s broader plan to conduct 13 auctions under a cumulative tender for 7.24 lakh metric tonnes (MT) per year of green ammonia. These auctions aim to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen and its derivatives across India.
Earlier this week, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) emerged as the lowest bidder in SECI’s second auction, winning a 70,000 MTPA supply contract at Rs51.80/kg, the lowest bid so far, for supply to Krishana Phoschem, also in Madhya Pradesh.
The first auction under the SIGHT Scheme (Mode-2A) was won by ACME Cleantech Solutions, which bid Rs55.75/kg to supply 75,000 MTPA to Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. in Odisha.
SECI stated these auctions demonstrate not only commercial viability but also India’s growing leadership in the global green hydrogen space. With policy support from MNRE and offtake assurance from the Department of Fertilizers (DoF), India is rapidly establishing itself as a front-runner in clean energy transition.
