Parliamentary Committee Reviews NHPC’s Role in Green Energy at Ladakh

Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), NHPC, along with senior officials, participated in the Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertakings meeting on “Comprehensive Examination of NHPC Limited” at the Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, Alchi, Leh on 20th September 2025.

During the meeting, NHPC presented details of its operational power stations, ongoing projects, and future expansion plans to the Committee. The discussion highlighted NHPC’s strategic role in enhancing India’s renewable energy portfolio, especially through hydropower projects in difficult terrains.

The Committee members also visited the 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo Power Station in Leh. They commended NHPC’s substantial contribution to green energy generation and praised its capability to operate and maintain projects in the extreme climatic and geographical challenges of Ladakh.

NHPC’s work in such regions demonstrates its resilience and technical expertise in harnessing renewable energy where conventional operations are tough. The Parliamentary Committee acknowledged these contributions as vital to India’s clean energy transition.
