Pastiche Energy to Set Up 1 GW BESS Plant Near Chandigarh, Boosting India’s Storage Capacity
Aug 06, 2025
Haryana-based Pastiche Energy Solutions has announced plans to set up a 1 GW lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility near Chandigarh, Punjab. The company will invest Rs10 million in the first phase, with the plant expected to be operational by Q3 2025. Future plans include expanding the capacity to 5 GW. Pastiche aims to produce battery packs for both electric vehicles (EVs) and stationary BESS applications. It has already secured orders worth Rs250–300 million.
In a strategic move toward sustainability and vertical integration, the company also intends to begin manufacturing battery cells at the same facility and install a 100–150 kW solar project to power its operations through clean energy.
Established in 2015, Pastiche serves diverse sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, grid-scale storage, medical, telecom, railway, aerospace, and marine. It also produces battery solutions for EVs and robotics.
This announcement aligns with the rapid growth of India’s energy storage sector. As of December 2024, India had an installed BESS capacity of 442 MWh, a sixfold jump from the previous year. In June 2025, the Ministry of Power rolled out the second phase of viability gap funding (VGF), offering Rs1.8 million/MWh to develop 30 GWh of BESS capacity nationwide.
