Patel Infrastructure and Enerica Infra 3 Win SJVN's 375 MW BESS Auction in Uttar Pradesh

Jul 07, 2025

SJVN has concluded the auction for its 375 MW/1,500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Uttar Pradesh, selecting Patel Infrastructure and Enerica Infra 3 (EnerGrid) as winners. Both companies secured 187.5 MW/750 MWh capacity each under a build-own-operate (BOO) model. Patel Infrastructure submitted the lowest tariff bid (L1) of Rs3.59 lakh/MW/month, while Enerica Infra 3 followed closely with Rs3.599 lakh/MW/month. The tariff will be applicable for a 20-year Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with SJVN.

The project, tendered in February 2025, is eligible for Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of up to Rs27 lakh/MWh or 30% of the capital cost, whichever is lower. The developers are responsible for the complete lifecycle of the project, from design and financing to operation and maintenance, in compliance with grid, safety, and efficiency standards.

Key technical requirements include one four-hour discharge cycle daily, 95% monthly availability, and at least 85% monthly AC-to-AC round-trip efficiency. The systems must connect to the UPPTCL’s 400kV/220kV Garautha substation in Jhansi, with land allocation managed by UPPCL/UPPTCL. The projects must use proven, commercially established technologies and are mandated to be commissioned within 18 months from the BESPA signing.
