Plugzmart Secures ARAI Certification for Made-in-India 60kW EV Fast Charger

Plugzmart, an EV charger start-up incubated at IIT Madras, has achieved a major milestone by receiving certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for its 60kW DC fast charger. This charger stands out due to its indigenously-developed controller module, highlighting Plugzmart’s commitment to local innovation. ARAI, a key research institute under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, is responsible for testing and certifying automotive products in India, making this a significant validation of Plugzmart’s technology.
The company is currently focused on creating high-speed DC chargers integrated with its own controller and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) modules, further enhancing the performance and reliability of its products. CEO Vivek Samynathan Rajamanickam also hinted at introducing new financial offerings within the current financial year, which could support wider adoption of their charging solutions. Co-founder Ragavendra Ravichandran expressed optimism about this achievement and emphasized its importance for the company’s future growth.
This development reflects the growing ecosystem of homegrown EV technologies in India and Plugzmart’s role in driving innovation and self-reliance in the electric vehicle infrastructure sector.
