PM Inaugurates Rs1,600 Crore Transmission Schemes by POWERGRID in Gujarat
Sept 22, 2025
Hon’ble Prime Minister has dedicated two major POWERGRID transmission schemes in Gujarat aimed at boosting renewable energy (RE) integration from the Khavda RE zone. The projects include the Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat and the Establishment of Khavda Pooling Station-3 (KPS3) at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, with a combined investment of Rs1,600 crore.
These transmission schemes are designed to evacuate renewable energy from Khavda, one of the largest renewable energy zones in India, to Gujarat and other states in the Western Region. By strengthening the regional grid, the projects will enable seamless transmission of large-scale solar and wind power, supporting India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030.
The Khavda RE Park is central to India’s renewable expansion plans, and POWERGRID’s transmission infrastructure plays a critical role in ensuring that the energy generated is efficiently delivered to demand centers. The commissioning of these schemes marks a significant step toward integrated renewable energy evacuation, grid stability, and enhanced power availability in western India.
