Powertrac Solar Demonstrates Quality Check Methods for Bifacial Mono PERC Modules

Apr 14, 2025

Powertrac Solar recently conducted a live practical test at ongoing solar project sites, comparing high-quality versus low-quality bifacial Mono PERC solar modules. The demonstration aimed to raise awareness among installers, developers, and procurement teams about the critical differences in module performance and long-term reliability.

The test involved a simple flashlight method — where a light source is placed behind the module to assess EVA and backsheet transparency. High-quality modules allowed clear passage of light, whereas non-quality modules showed blocked or patchy illumination. This method highlights visual clarity as a quick, on-site indicator of material quality.

Further quality checks included:
  • Rear irradiance gain comparison during installation using sensors
  • Thermal imaging to detect hotspots, indicating material inefficiencies
  • Evaluation of material transparency and UV resistance for long-term performance

The session emphasized the importance of choosing glass-glass or transparent backsheet modules with UV-stabilized, PID-resistant EVA. These ensure better bifacial gain, reduced thermal degradation, and extended module life.

Powertrac Solar’s message is clear: investing in quality modules upfront can significantly reduce O&M challenges and boost overall energy yield. Their hands-on approach aims to educate industry stakeholders about practical quality verification techniques and reinforce best practices in procurement.

By inviting industry veterans and companies like Adani Group, ACME, Avaada, and other solar experts into the conversation, Powertrac is promoting a collective push toward higher standards and better outcomes in solar power deployment.
