Rajendra Prasad Goyal Reappointed as CMD of NHPC

Rajendra Prasad Goyal has been reappointed as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Ltd., effective July 1, 2025, as per directions from the Ministry of Power. This marks his second term as CMD, having previously held the position from March 1 to August 7, 2024. Goyal currently serves as NHPC's Director (Finance).

A veteran in the hydropower sector, Goyal brings over 36 years of experience at NHPC, with a strong background in financial planning, regulatory affairs, and contract management. He is a member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and holds a Master's degree in Commerce from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

His reappointment comes at a time when hydropower is gaining strategic importance in India’s renewable energy mix, contributing to grid stability and clean energy growth. NHPC is currently advancing several hydropower projects, and Goyal’s leadership is expected to bring continuity, stability, and a financially prudent approach to the company’s operations and growth trajectory.
