Refex Green Power Wins 250 TPD Bio-CNG Plant Tender in Coimbatore, Expands Clean Energy Footprint

Refex Renewables and Infrastructure Ltd. has made a significant step in the clean energy sector through its subsidiary, Refex Green Power Ltd., by winning a tender to develop a 250 TPD Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) based Bio-CNG plant in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This project, part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, will be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation.

The project will be developed on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis, with a concession period of 20 years. The estimated investment required for the project is INR 78.54 crore, and it is expected to be fully commissioned within 19 months of signing the Concession Agreement.

This initiative marks another milestone in Refex’s growing commitment to clean and sustainable energy. The company entered the Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) segment in December 2024, acquiring a controlling stake in Vyzag Bio-Energy Fuel for INR 2.90 crore, showcasing its intent to lead in waste-to-energy solutions.

In the same month, Refex Green Power formed a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to execute a 100 MW solar power project, which was awarded by NTPC Ltd. in October 2024. Additionally, the company joined hands with Winvision Enterprises in a joint venture, holding a 75.5% stake, to focus on wind energy, including manufacturing and assembling wind turbine generators and related components.
