Reliance, Sembcorp, BluPine, and ACME Secure SJVN’s 1.5 GW FDRE Auction

Oct 11, 2025

Reliance NU Energies, Sembcorp Green Infra, Solarcraft Power India 8 (BluPine Energy), and ACME Solar Holdings have emerged as winners in SJVN’s auction for supplying 6 GWh of assured peak power from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects integrated with energy storage systems (ESS).

The auction aimed to procure 1.5 GW of peak power for a 4-hour daily window, with Reliance and Sembcorp quoting tariffs of INR 6.74/kWh, securing 750 MW and 150 MW, respectively. Solarcraft Power India 8 won 150 MW at INR 6.75/kWh, while ACME secured 450 MW out of 600 MW it had bid for under the bucket-filling allocation method.

Launched in December last year, the tender focuses on four-hour daily peak periods, either from 00:00 to 08:00 or 17:00 to 24:00. Eligible projects can connect solar, wind, or storage capacities to ISTS substations, with a minimum interconnection voltage of 220 kV.

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) will be valid for 25 years, starting either from the scheduled supply commencement or from the date the project’s full capacity begins delivering power, whichever is later. Bidders are required to provide 100% renewable energy annually, though up to 5?n be sourced via green market transactions or bilateral agreements.

To minimize project risk and ensure timely commissioning, only commercially proven technologies are allowed. Wind turbines must be type-certified and listed in MNRE’s Revised List of Models and Manufacturers, while solar PV modules must appear in MNRE’s List-I of Approved Models and Manufacturers.

This auction marks a significant step in India’s push toward grid-connected renewable energy with integrated storage, strengthening the country’s clean energy capacity and peak power reliability.
