Relux Electric Partners with TNGECL to Set Up 500 EV Charging Stations in Tamil Nadu
Sept 26, 2025
Relux Electric has signed an agreement with Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL), a state-owned firm created in 2024, to install 500 EV charging stations across the state. As part of the project, Relux and TNGECL will carry out a feasibility study to identify suitable government-owned lands for setting up the infrastructure.
The initiative supports Tamil Nadu’s broader goal of becoming an electric mobility hub by expanding EV infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable transport. Relux Electric’s Managing Director, Karthikeyan S., highlighted that the partnership will speed up EV adoption and place charging stations at convenient, customer-friendly locations.
TNGECL is actively working with municipal bodies, bus depots, and other public institutions to create a widespread charging network. The plan includes deploying surplus and strategically located charging points to ensure accessibility for EV users.
Currently, Tamil Nadu has about 1,300 charging stations. Alongside expansion, TNGECL is developing a digital map to help users easily locate nearby charging points. It also intends to set up dedicated EV hubs, offering additional facilities to improve user experience and convenience. This collaboration marks a major step in positioning Tamil Nadu as a leader in EV infrastructure development.
