ReNew to Invest Rs22,000 Cr in One of India’s Largest Hybrid RE Projects in Andhra Pradesh
May 17, 2025
ReNew Energy Global Plc has announced a major investment of approximately Rs22,000 crore to establish a 2.8 GW hybrid renewable energy project in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project will integrate 1.8 GWp of solar, 1 GW of wind, and a 2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it one of India’s largest renewable energy complexes at a single location.
In the first phase, ReNew will develop 587 MWp of solar and 250 MW of wind capacity, along with a 415 MWh BESS—backed by signed power purchase agreements (PPAs). The full project, once completed, will support firm power delivery for up to 4 peak hours daily, addressing variability challenges in renewable energy supply.
This initiative aligns with the Make in India campaign, using 100% domestically manufactured solar panels from ReNew's units in Jaipur and Dholera, coupled with advanced solar tracking and waterless robotic cleaning technologies. The foundation stone was laid by Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, with ReNew Chairman and CEO Sumant Sinha highlighting the state’s conducive policy environment and robust renewable potential.
The project will generate about 1,500 direct and indirect jobs and is expected to contribute significantly to India's 2030 goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity. ReNew currently operates 777 MW of wind and solar capacity across Andhra Pradesh and continues to play a pivotal role in the state's clean energy ambitions.
