Resonia Wins Transmission Project for 4.5 GW Renewable Energy Evacuation

Apr 02, 2025

Resonia (Sterlite Power) has secured PFC Consulting’s transmission project to augment the interstate transmission system (ISTS) at the Ananthapur-II Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) – Phase I in Andhra Pradesh. The project, aimed at evacuating 4.5 GW of renewable energy, was won at an annual transmission charge of Rs448 crore.Thespecial purpose vehicle (SPV) for the project, Ananthapur II REZ Transmission, was transferred to Resonia for Rs19.233 crore.

The project includes 4×1500 MVA (765/400 kV) and 6×500 MVA (400/220 kV) transformers, a 765 kV D/C transmission line from Ananthapur-II to Davangere and Cuddapah, and a 300 MVAr static synchronous compensator at Ananthapur-II pooling station. The infrastructure will facilitate immediate integration of 4.5 GW out of the 20 GW renewable energy potential in Ananthapur-II. The project must be completed within 24 months.

India targets 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030, with Andhra Pradesh alone identified for 51 GW potential. Recently, PFC Consulting invited bids for 4.5 GW evacuation in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, and 3 GW for green hydrogen projects in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
