Scatec Signs 25-Year PPA for 900 MW Wind Project in Egypt’s Ras Shukeir
Jun 20, 2025
Norway-based renewable energy firm Scatec ASA has signed a 25-year USD-denominated Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for a 900 MW onshore wind project. The agreement was signed through Scatec’s project entity, Shadwan Wind Power SAE. The wind farm will be developed in Ras Shukeir, a region known for its high-quality wind resources.
Before financial closure and construction, wind measurements at the site will be completed in the first half of 2026. The project highlights Egypt’s growing momentum in renewable energy and solidifies Scatec’s role as a key player in the region.
Scatec CEO Terje Pilskog noted that the agreement strengthens the company’s diversified renewable energy portfolio in Egypt, where it is currently advancing four major projects. Globally, Scatec has 6.2 GW of renewable energy projects either operational or under construction, spanning five continents. The Ras Shukeir project marks another significant step in Egypt’s strategy to scale up clean energy and decarbonize its power sector.
