SECI Awards 450,000 MT Green Hydrogen Production Capacity Under SIGHT Program

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced the results of its Mode-1-Tranche-II auction under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Program, awarding a total of 450,000 metric tons (MT) of annual green hydrogen production capacity. The selected companies will receive an incentive of Rs2,239 crore to establish production facilities across India.
Under Bucket 1 (technology-agnostic pathways), 448,500 MT of production capacity was awarded to companies like Oriana Power, Suryadeep KA1 Project (InSolare), L&T Energy Green, GH2 Solar, Sembcorp (Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms), Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, AM Green Ammonia, and Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals. This segment received Rs2,221 crore in allocated incentives.
In Bucket 2 (biomass-based pathways), Matrix Gas and Renewables was the sole winner, securing 1,500 MT with an allocated incentive of Rs17.85 crore.
The SIGHT Tranche-II tender was launched in July 2024 to promote large-scale green hydrogen production, improve cost competitiveness, and advance hydrogen technology in India. The selected bidders have 36 months from the date of the letter of award to fully commission their production facilities.
Key project conditions include:
- Minimum bid capacity: 10,000 MT per annum (Bucket 1), 500 MT per annum (Bucket 2)
- Maximum bid capacity: 90,000 MT per annum (Bucket 1), 4,000 MT per annum (Bucket 2)
- Bidders can choose or change project locations at their discretion
- Quarterly progress reports must be submitted to SECI
Winners of SECI’s Mode-1, Tranche-I auction included Reliance Green Hydrogen, Greenko ZeroC, ACME Cleantech Solutions, Bharat Petroleum, Welspun New Energy, Torrent Power, and JSW Neo Energy, among others.
