SECI Discovers Record Low Green Ammonia Tariff at Rs51.8/kg

Aug 05, 2025

SECI has once again set a new benchmark by discovering a record low green ammonia tariff of Rs51.8 per kg in its latest auction for Krishana Phoschem Limited’s upcoming 70,000 TPA plant in Meghnagar, Madhya Pradesh. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited emerged as the winning bidder. This translates to an impressive $591.25 per ton, reflecting a significant drop in green ammonia pricing.

The achievement marks another milestone in India’s growing green hydrogen and ammonia sector, made possible by the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the Department of Fertilizers, and committed offtakers like Krishana Phoschem.

SECI’s strong payment security framework and guaranteed offtake arrangements are instilling investor confidence and accelerating project development across the value chain. The enthusiasm shown by industry players signals growing momentum for India's clean energy transition, especially in the hydrogen and ammonia segments.

This result reinforces India's position as a serious global contender in affordable green hydrogen and ammonia production.
