SECI Floats Tender for 600 MW/1,200 MWh Battery Energy Storage Project in Andhra Pradesh
Aug 07, 2025
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has released a Request for Proposal (RfP) for developing a standalone grid-connected Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 600 MW/1,200 MWh at Kolimigundla in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal District. The project falls under the BESS Tranche-II scheme and is eligible for Viability Gap Funding (VGF). The deadline for bid submissions is September 10, 2025, with openings the following day.
Interested bidders must provide an earnest money deposit of Rs421,600/MW (totaling Rs252.96 million) and a bid processing fee of Rs25,000 plus GST. The winning bidder must submit a performance bank guarantee worth 10% of the contract value within 20 days of award notification.
The project includes designing, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and 15 years of operation and maintenance. It will connect to the interstate transmission system via Kurnool-3 substation, with discharge to power exchanges during SECI-specified hours.
Eligibility criteria include prior experience with grid-scale BESS of at least 120 MWh, with 60 MWh operational for six months. Financially, bidders must have an average annual turnover of Rs5.05 billion and working capital or credit line of Rs2.71 billion.
This initiative is part of India’s larger BESS strategy, backed by a Rs54 billion VGF program targeting 30 GWh of storage capacity.
