SECI Invites Bids to Supply 724,000 MT Green Ammonia Under SIGHT Program

Jun 24, 2025

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender to procure 724,000 metric tons of green ammonia annually for 13 fertilizer plants under the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) program, Mode-2A-Tranche-I. The green ammonia supply must span 10 years, and producers must handle end-to-end operations including land acquisition, production, storage, and delivery.

Trading is not allowed, though up to 10% of annual supply can be sourced from third parties. Producers may use co-located or remotely located renewable energy, or procure power from exchanges. Bids must be submitted by June 30, 2025, and will be opened on July 3. Financial prerequisites include a Rs25,000 document fee, Rs1.5 million bid processing fee, and an earnest money deposit of Rs5,000/MT. A performance bank guarantee of Rs7,500/MT is also required.

SECI will levy a Rs1.5/kg trading margin. Selected producers will receive incentives starting at Rs8.82/kg in year one, tapering to Rs5.30/kg by year three, with a total incentive outlay of Rs15.3 billion. This initiative is part of India’s Rs197.4 billion National Green Hydrogen Mission, with Rs174.9 billion allocated specifically to the SIGHT program.
