SECI’s 6th Green Ammonia Auction Sets Record-Low Tariff of Rs50.75/kg
Aug 18, 2025
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has discovered a record-low tariff of Rs50.75/kg for green ammonia in its 6th auction. The winning bid came from Jakson Green for supplying 85,000 TPA to Coromandel International Ltd. (CIL) at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. This beats the previous low of Rs51.80/kg achieved by NTPC Renewable Energy for 70,000 TPA to Krishana Phoschem in Madhya Pradesh.
SECI has planned 13 auctions under its green ammonia procurement tender, targeting a total of 7.24 lakh MT/year. With six auctions completed, a cumulative 4.1 lakh MT/year has already been awarded. Previous winners include ACME Cleantech Solutions, NTPC Renewable Energy, Onix Renewable, Oriana Power, and the SCC Infrastructure–InSolare consortium, with tariffs ranging between Rs51.80 and Rs55.75/kg.
The auctions demonstrate rapid cost compression, proving the competitiveness and commercial viability of green ammonia in India. SECI credited this success to the SIGHT Scheme (Mode-2A), strong government backing from MNRE and the Department of Fertilizers, and its transparent e-reverse auction model with assured offtake and payment security.
India’s success is positioning it as a global leader in green hydrogen and derivatives, with potential for international partnerships in Japan, Korea, Germany, and beyond.
