SECI to Float Tender for 500 kW Solar Pilot Project in Pang, Leh

May 13, 2025

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is set to invite bids for the development of a 500 kW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) pilot project in Pang, located in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The project will be executed under the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model and selected through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, with the developer offering the lowest tariff winning the contract.

This initiative underscores the government's commitment to extending clean energy solutions to remote and high-altitude regions. Under the RESCO model, the selected private developer will install, own, and operate the solar facility, supplying power through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).

SECI’s project in Leh aligns with broader national goals to enhance renewable energy penetration and promote sustainable development in diverse terrains, including difficult-to-access areas like Pang. The official tender is expected to be released soon, marking another step in India's ongoing transition to green energy and decentralized power generation.
