Solarium to Re-Enter Solar Module Manufacturing with 1 GW Facility in Gujarat
Jun 12, 2025
Solarium Green Energy Limited, a leading rooftop solar EPC player in India, has announced its strategic re-entry into solar module manufacturing with a new fully automated 1 GW (1000 MW) facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The plant, to be developed at a project cost of Rs70 crore (plus working capital), will employ latest-generation machinery and be financed through a 3:1 debt-to-equity ratio.
This backward integration initiative is aimed at enhancing supply chain security, reducing module cost volatility, and improving project execution speed and margins. Currently, solar modules represent 50–60% of the total project cost in solar EPC projects, and Solarium’s move is expected to provide significant cost optimization and operational advantages.
With this facility, Solarium is positioning itself not just as a rooftop solar EPC leader but also as a vertically integrated solar player capable of offering competitive, high-quality solutions for India's clean energy market. The initiative supports the broader national goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India in the renewable energy sector.
