Sunkind Energy Partners with JA Solar to Establish 6.4 GW Solar Manufacturing Capacity in India

Jul 01, 2025

Sunkind Energy has signed a technical partnership with Chinese solar giant JA Solar to support the development of its 2.4 GW solar PV cell and 4 GW module manufacturing facilities in India. Under the MoU, Sunkind will benefit from JA Solar’s advanced cell technologies — including TOPCon — as well as its global raw material supply chain and manufacturing expertise.

This collaboration is aimed at accelerating India’s domestic solar manufacturing capabilities, promoting self-reliance, and aligning with global efficiency and performance benchmarks. Sunkind Energy’s Managing Director, Hanish Gupta, emphasized the importance of deploying high-performance and sustainable solar solutions to meet India’s energy security and climate goals. Director & COO Virpal Yadav highlighted that the partnership would enhance product precision and reliability for clients.

JA Solar Executive President Aiqing Yang noted India’s growing importance in the global solar market and expressed confidence in the collaboration’s potential to build a quality-led solar manufacturing ecosystem in the country.

The partnership coincides with India’s solar surge, as the country added a record 30.7 GW of new capacity in 2024 — a 145% year-on-year growth — ranking third globally. This move positions Sunkind as a significant player in India’s rapidly expanding solar manufacturing landscape.
