Suzlon and Andhra Pradesh Launch India's Largest Green Skill Development Program

Jan 07, 2025

Suzlon Group has joined hands with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSD) to empower 12,000 youth in the renewable energy sector.

This initiative, announced on January 7, 2025, is a significant step towards bridging the skill gap and creating a future-ready workforce in India's green energy sector. It serves as a tribute to the late Shri Tulsi Tanti, founder of Suzlon, and his commitment to the development of Andhra Pradesh.

Key Highlights of the Program

  • Target: Train 12,000 youths, including at least 3,000 women, over the next four years.
  • Focus Areas: Specialized training in wind power manufacturing, including Electrical, Mechanical, Blade Technology, Material Management, Operations & Maintenance, and Land & Liasoning.
  • Curriculum Development: Creation of a structured curriculum for ITI, Diploma, and degree engineering colleges.
  • University Partnerships: Collaboration with universities to integrate globally recognized content and advanced research in wind energy.
  • Learning Labs: Establishment of five "Learning Labs" across Andhra Pradesh for blended learning (classroom and hands-on training) programs.
  • Program Duration: Programs will range from 3 to 12 months.
  • Skill Development and Placement: The program aims to bridge the employability gap by providing training and facilitating job placements for participants.

Shri Nara Lokesh, Minister for IT & Human Resources Development: "This program will play a crucial role in building a Viksit Andhra Pradesh by creating jobs and empowering underserved families."

JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group: "We aim to position Andhra Pradesh as a talent hub for the renewable energy sector and empower the state to lead the way in building a sustainable future."

Rajendra Mehta, CHRO, Suzlon Group: "This initiative strengthens Suzlon's role in shaping India's sustainable workforce for the future by building 12,000 careers."

This collaboration between Suzlon and the Andhra Pradesh government is a commendable effort to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector. By focusing on both technical skills and job placement, the program has the potential to create a win-win situation for participants, the industry, and the state of Andhra Pradesh.
