TATA Power D Issues India’s 20th FDRE Tender with 250 MW Peak Power Assurance
Apr 30, 2025
TATA Power D has released India’s 20th Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) tender, breaking a dry spell since the last such tender in December 2024. The earlier tenders from SJVN and PSPCL are still pending closure. Since then, 20 energy storage tenders—primarily standalone BESS—have been issued, reflecting growing interest in dispatchable clean power solutions.
This latest FDRE tender from TATA Power D targets a 250 MW project capacity across PAN India, based on the BOO (Build-Own-Operate) model. The project must combine solar, wind, and energy storage (ESS of 250 kWh per 1 MW) to meet 100% renewable energy-based supply, with up to 5% of energy allowed from green markets annually. A 25-year PPA is offered, with power supply required during peak hours (1700–2400 hrs) for 4 hours daily, and 90% peak availability must be ensured monthly.
The project mandates a minimum CUF of 40% annually and allows limited off-peak dispatch flexibility for the first 3 years. Notably, excess power post-PPA commitment can be sold freely without NOC. The financial closure timeline is 12 months from SCSD, and bidders can quote tariffs with a ±2% window from the L1 bid.
