Tata Power-DDL and Probus Partner to Enhance Smart Metering with Universal NIC

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) has partnered with Probus Smart Things Private Limited to revolutionize smart metering technology by adopting a Universal Network Interface Card (NIC) with Bluetooth-enabled communication. This innovation aims to enhance meter data collection, connectivity, and operational efficiency, even in challenging network conditions.

Key Features of Universal NIC

• Bluetooth-Enabled Communication – Ensures seamless data collection and meter operations like reconnection/disconnection, even when primary networks are unavailable.
• Multi-Point Star Connectivity – Enables robust communication using neighboring meters, ensuring higher network reliability.
• Seamless Integration – The NIC is designed to work with Tata Power-DDL’s consumer mobile applications and meter reading systems, enhancing the user experience.

Tata Power-DDL and Probus will jointly develop new smart metering use cases and file joint patents to protect intellectual property. Initially deployed for Tata Power-DDL's operations, with plans to expand its benefits to other utilities and regions.
