Tata Power Renewables to Boost Rooftop Solar Adoption for C&I Customers in Chhattisgarh

Oct 11, 2025

Tata Power Renewables has launched the “Scale Sustainably with Tata Power” initiative in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, aiming to accelerate rooftop solar adoption among Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers. The campaign focuses on energy-intensive sectors such as steel, cement, power, aluminium, and mining, supporting businesses in their transition to clean and sustainable energy.

Through its Tata Power Solaroof division, the company will provide cost-efficient, reliable, and scalable rooftop solar solutions tailored to the state’s industries. With Chhattisgarh emerging as a key industrial hub, the campaign targets owner-operated businesses and Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) customers with loads above 1 MW, facilitating smooth adoption of renewable energy.

The initiative offers attractive financing options, including interest rates starting at 7.35%, zero processing fees, and collateral-free loans, making rooftop solar investment accessible for commercial customers. Tata Power Renewables plans to leverage strategic partnerships, knowledge-sharing sessions, and a strong network of channel partners across the state to drive awareness and adoption.

Supportive policy reforms in Chhattisgarh, aligned with the Green Energy Open Access (GEOA) framework, are easing regulatory barriers, simplifying tariffs, and encouraging large-scale adoption of renewable energy among industrial and commercial consumers.

As of August 2025, Tata Power Renewables has achieved a cumulative rooftop solar capacity of 252 MWp in Chhattisgarh, including 234 MWp in the C&I segment and 18 MWp in residential installations, serving over 3,275 customers. In FY 2025–26 alone, the company added 20 MWp across 81 C&I systems and 10 MWp across 2,607 residential systems. Over the next three years, it aims to add 500 MWp rooftop solar capacity in the state.

Tata Power Renewables has previously executed landmark projects in Chhattisgarh, such as a 100 MW solar PV project with 120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rajnandgaon, a 30 MWp ground-mounted solar project at Badbhoom and Mundgaon, and 100 solar microgrid systems in remote forest villages, enhancing rural energy access.

This initiative reinforces Tata Power Renewables’ commitment to industrial decarbonization, sustainable growth, and expanding India’s renewable energy footprint.
