Telekom Malaysia and Gentari Ink Solar PPA to Power Six Key Facilities

May 13, 2025

Telekom Malaysia (TM) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gentari Renewables to supply solar energy to six of its facilities across Malaysia. Under the agreement, Gentari will design, install, and operate 4.3 MW of rooftop and on-site solar capacity, projected to generate 4.82 GWh annually. The initiative is expected to reduce TM's carbon emissions by approximately 3.65 million tons.

The solar projects will be deployed at strategic TM locations, including its Klang Valley and Iskandar Puteri data centers, as well as the TM Research & Development Complex in Cyberjaya and the TM Stesen Kabel Dasar Laut in Mersing. Multimedia University campuses in Cyberjaya and Melaka are also part of the rollout.

This collaboration marks a significant step in TM’s decarbonization strategy, aligning with broader national goals for clean energy adoption and sustainable infrastructure development. Gentari, a clean energy arm of Malaysia’s Petronas, continues to expand its solar footprint with this deal, supporting industrial and commercial customers in reducing their environmental impact. The PPA underscores the growing momentum in Southeast Asia’s corporate renewable energy market, as major institutions pivot toward long-term sustainability and energy cost optimization.
