TotalEnergies & RWE Sign Landmark 15-Year Green Hydrogen Deal

In a major boost to Germany’s green hydrogen market, TotalEnergies and RWE have finalized a 15-year contract for the procurement of 30,000 metric tons of green hydrogen annually. This supply will be directed to TotalEnergies' refinery in Leuna (Saxony-Anhalt) from 2030 onward.

  • The deal represents the largest secured quantity of climate-neutral hydrogen from a German electrolyzer.

  • Utilizing 30,000 metric tons of green hydrogen will prevent 300,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions per year—equivalent to the emissions from 140,000 cars annually.
