TVS Motor Accelerates EV Expansion in Southeast Asia with ION Mobility Integration

TVS Motor Company (TVSM) is ramping up its electric vehicle (EV) footprint in Southeast Asia by integrating the assets, intellectual property, and talent of Singapore-based electric mobility startup ION Mobility into its operations.

TVSM, already a strategic investor in ION Mobility, aims to leverage this integration to strengthen its technological and market presence in the region. This move aligns with the company’s broader vision of expanding its global EV portfolio.

As part of the development, James Chan, Founder and CEO of ION Mobility, has joined TVS Motor as Senior Vice President. He will lead TVSM’s business across the ASEAN region and drive the rollout of the upcoming M1-S electric mobility platform.

TVSM has made significant strides in the EV space, with nearly 600,000 global customers opting for its flagship electric scooter, the TVS iQube. The company has built end-to-end in-house capabilities for key EV components including battery systems, battery management systems, vehicle control units, and connected platforms. It currently holds over 650 patents in the electric mobility domain.

With this strategic move, TVS Motor reaffirms its commitment to advancing sustainable mobility and building a robust EV ecosystem across international markets.
