UPNEDA Invites Expressions of Interest for Floating Solar Projects at 35 Dams and Reservoirs in Uttar Pradesh
Jan 02, 2025
The Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from developers to establish floating solar power projects across 35 dams and reservoirs in the state.
Key Details:
- Submission Deadline: January 20, 2025.
- Bid Opening Date: January 21, 2025.
- Objective: The EoI aims to gauge developers' interest in establishing floating solar projects as part of the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy 2022, which targets adding 22,000 MW of solar capacity by 2027. Out of this, 14,000 MW is earmarked for large-scale solar power projects.
Successful bidders will be required to:
- Survey, design, supply, install, test, and commission the floating solar projects.
- Operate and maintain the systems during the lease period.
- Connect the project to the nearest substation and ensure timely commissioning.
- Obtain and maintain all necessary consents, permits, and approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
- Independently arrange for a power procurer.
The state-level committee will oversee the site allocation process, including selecting suitable dams and reservoirs for development.
The focus on floating solar projects represents an innovative step in utilizing water bodies to expand renewable energy capacity in Uttar Pradesh. These projects align with India’s broader push toward achieving net-zero emissions and leveraging sustainable energy solutions for economic growth.
