UPPCL Signs PPA with Adani Green for 400 MW Solar Power at Rs2.57/unit
May 05, 2025
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has taken a major step toward strengthening its clean energy portfolio by signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Adani Green Energy Limited on May 3, 2025. The agreement secures 400 MW of solar power at a competitive tariff of Rs2.57 per unit, reinforcing the state’s commitment to affordable and sustainable energy.
The solar project is scheduled for commissioning by June 2027 and will play a crucial role in helping Uttar Pradesh meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets as mandated by the Ministry of Power (MoP). This deal reflects UPPCL’s strategic focus on long-term energy cost stability and environmental stewardship.
With this move, UPPCL not only supports India’s national clean energy transition goals but also strengthens the state’s energy security by diversifying its energy mix. The procurement from Adani Green—one of India’s largest renewable energy developers—adds to UPPCL’s growing renewable portfolio and is expected to contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions in the region.
This development marks a milestone in public-private collaboration in India’s renewable energy sector and sets the stage for further large-scale solar investments in the state.
