VSL Renewable Services Secures O&M Contract for 810 MWp NTPC Green Energy Projects

Aug 29, 2025

VSL Renewable Services has bagged the operation and maintenance (O&M) contract for 810 MWp of NTPC Green Energy Ltd’s (NGEL) 1,864 MW solar portfolio across Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The contract, awarded for 36 months, followed NTPC’s January 2025 tender where VSL emerged the lowest bidder for both Lot 1 (1,054 MWp) and Lot 2 (810 MWp), though only Lot 2 was allocated as per tender norms.

The O&M will integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT)-based platforms for anomaly detection, predictive diagnostics, and performance optimization. VSL has tailored region-specific O&M strategies: dust mitigation and thermal management in Rajasthan’s arid zones, grid synchronization and terrain-focused services in Madhya Pradesh, and corrosion and coastal resilience measures in Andhra Pradesh.

The scope of work includes daily string outage checks, inverter tripping restoration, rapid fault response, and 24/7 control room monitoring. Additionally, VSL must provide periodic reporting to NGEL, conduct annual equipment testing, and ensure at least 18 module cleaning cycles per year. The contract also covers cleaning of drains, cable trenches, culverts, and includes agreements for spares supply and maintenance of critical equipment like UPS systems and power packs.

This win strengthens VSL’s foothold in India’s solar O&M market, particularly with large-scale utility projects. Recently, NGEL floated bids for short-term O&M contracts at its 160 MW Jetstar project and 250 MW Shimbhu ki Bhurj-I project in Rajasthan, further highlighting NTPC’s focus on reliable long-term asset management.
