Waaree Energies Launches 1,400 MW Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility in Gujarat
Feb 12, 2025
Waaree Energies Limited has successfully commenced commercial production at its new 1,400 MW monocrystalline PERC (mono PERC) solar cell manufacturing facility located in Chikhli, Gujarat. This marks the first phase of a larger project aimed at establishing a 5,400 MW solar cell manufacturing capacity. The second phase of this ambitious plan will introduce 4,000 MW of high-efficiency TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cells, which are known for their superior performance and efficiency in solar energy generation.
The new facility is outfitted with advanced production lines, state-of-the-art automation systems, and robust quality control processes. These elements ensure the production of high-quality solar cells that meet global standards for efficiency and durability. This move by Waaree Energies is not only a significant step for the company but also contributes to India’s broader vision of creating a self-sustaining solar manufacturing ecosystem. The facility aligns with the Indian government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiatives, both of which aim to bolster domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imported solar components.
As part of its growing role in the renewable energy sector, Waaree Energies also made a notable delivery in January 2025, supplying 132.5 MWp of high-performance n-Type TOPCon solar modules to Radiance Renewables Private Limited. These modules, designed with enhanced energy efficiency, are suitable for varying environmental conditions, making them ideal for diverse solar power projects. The performance and energy output of these modules are expected to significantly contribute to increasing solar power generation efficiency in India.
