Wardwizard’s Joy e-bike Partners with Battery Smart for Battery-as-a-Service Model

Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility Ltd., the maker of Joy e-bike and Joy e-rik, has announced a strategic collaboration with Battery Smart, a leading battery-swapping network provider, to transform electric two-wheeler adoption in India. Under the agreement, Battery Smart will establish battery-swapping infrastructure at all Joy e-bike dealerships, introducing a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model that lowers upfront EV costs by 20–30%.

This model allows customers to buy Joy e-bikes without the battery and instead rent swappable batteries on a pay-as-you-use basis, addressing two key barriers to EV adoption—high purchase cost and range anxiety. The initial integration will be rolled out in Joy e-bike models such as Globe and Gen Next, with additional models planned. Customers will be able to access Battery Smart’s fast-expanding network of swapping stations already active in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, with a phased nationwide rollout beginning in January 2026.

The partnership also benefits dealers and distributors, who can install swapping stations at their locations to generate new revenue streams while helping Battery Smart expand its reach.

Commenting on the development, Yatin Gupte, CMD of Wardwizard, said the initiative is a “game-changer for India’s EV ecosystem”, as decoupling the battery from the vehicle will make EVs more affordable and convenient. By tackling cost and range challenges, Joy e-bikes are expected to see wider adoption among both individual and B2B customers.

This marks Battery Smart’s first B2C pilot project, advancing its vision for sustainable, accessible, and future-ready mobility. Together, the companies aim to accelerate EV penetration and build a robust battery-swapping ecosystem to support India’s clean transportation transition.
